THE DESAFÍO RUTA 40 IS BACK!

THE DESAFÍO RUTA 40 IS BACK!

The Desafío Ruta 40 returns to the international calendar in 2023 as part of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC). The race will be contested from August 26 to September 1. The competition was presented in Saudi Arabia.

The history of rally-raid has entered a new era with the unification of the FIA and FIM World Championships. After the 2022 successful debut, the W2RC is preparing for its second season in 2023, which will include five events. The championship will start with the Dakar Rally, which will be held in Saudi Arabia between December 31 and January 15. It will be followed by the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in the United Arab Emirates from February 25 to March 2, and then the Sonora Rally in Mexico will make its debut from April 22 to 28. At the end of August, the World Cup caravan will move to Argentina. The end of the season will take place between October 12 and 18, with the Morocco Rally.

Just before the start of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, Pablo Eli (DR40 Race Director) presented the competition and gave some details of this fascinating race under the watchful eye of the drivers, teams and the rest of the organizers of the championship.

The Desafío Ruta 40 was held for the first time in 2010 and will celebrate its 11th edition next year. Since its beginnings, this race has traveled through the south and north of Argentina, visiting different provinces. With stunning natural landscapes and demanding stages thanks to the versatility of terrain offered by the country, the DR40 has become a very attractive adventure for riders from all over the world. Among the riders who have won the Desafío Ruta 40 are: Paulo Gonçalves, Kevin Benavides ( bikes), Sergio Lafuente, Daniel Mazzucco (Quads), Nani Roma and Orly Terranova (in the car category), among others.

David Eli (General Organizer) commented on this long-awaited return to the sporting calendar: «We are delighted to return to the Desafío Ruta 40 and even more so, to be part of this new World Championship. From +Eventos (local promoter) we have a great background and experience organizing this kind of competitions and I am sure that this new edition will be a great challenge of technical skill and navigation. As always, I would like to thank all our sponsors for making this competition possible and, in particular, the commitment of the ACA and the CDA (Comisión Deportiva de Automovilismo) for their involvement in this project».
