Registrations for OPEN category are now open!

Desafío Ruta 40, which will take place from May 24-29, 2026, in Argentina across the provinces of San Juan and Mendoza, has announced that registrations are now open for OPEN category. This initiative expands the opportunities for participation in the most important international rally raid competition to be held in South America.

This time, OPEN category will be for Cars (T1 Petrol and T1 Diesel) and UTV (T3 and T4). This format will allow anyone over the age of 18 years old who holds a valid license issued by a Federation and has a valid national medical license to participate in OPEN category, without being registered to the championship but with the chance to be part of this W2RC round that will feature the best competitors in the discipline worldwide.

The 13th edition of Desafío Ruta 40 will have a route that will connect San Juan – San Rafael (Mendoza) – San Juan. The route, covering more than 2,700 kilometers (of which 1,699 kilometers are selective sections), will pass through iconic Argentine landscapes such as the El Nihuil dunes and will be a great sporting challenge for both competitors and machines.

The 2026 Desafío Ruta 40 will be valid for the third round of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC), becoming one of the most important international competitions to be held in the country next year and reaffirming its prestige within the global rally raid season.
