The 2023 edition of the Desafío Ruta 40 will take place in La Rioja, Belén (Catamarca) and Salta, from August 26 to September 1. As the fourth round of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC), the competition will have a few outstanding attractions. Here are 5 key informations:
Registration: Last days with preferential rates!
The eleventh edition of the Desafío Ruta 40 will be open to bikes, quads, cars (T1 and T2), SSV (T3 and T4) and trucks, both for the World Championship and the Open Cup.
Until June 30, riders and teams interested in participating in the Desafío Ruta 40 will be able to register at a special fee. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an internationally renowned competition that challenges the limits in a spectacular environment.

W2RC makes its debut in Argentina
The history of rally-raid is living a new era since the unification of the FIA and FIM World Championships. After the successful debut in 2022, the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) is now in its second season, which includes a landing on the American continent.
This year, the calendar features five events. After the Dakar Rally, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and the Sonora Rally, the Desafío Ruta 40 will be a turning point for the drivers in their pursuit of the championship title, with the Rallye du Maroc in October as the last round.
Although the Desafío Ruta 40 has already been part of international calendars, having been part of the FIM Cross Countries Rally World Championship, the FIA CODASUR Championship as well as the Dakar Series, this will be the first time as part of the new W2RC.
The Desafío Ruta 40 bivouacs
From August 26 to September 1, the bivouacs will be the itinerant home of the teams and the race organization.
In La Rioja, the bivouac will be located in the provincial capital, in the Super Dome located in the Parque de la Ciudad. Then, the rally caravan will move to the city of Belén, in the province of Catamarca. There, as in previous editions where it hosted the competition, the hq will be located in the well-known Centro Recreativo FAMAYFIL.
Finally, in Salta, the bivouac will be at the Convention Center, a site also known for being the «home» on numerous occasions during the Dakar Rally in South America.
All terrains in one single race
Once the reconnaissance of the emblematic terrains of the provinces of La Rioja, Catamarca and Salta has been completed, the Desafío Ruta 40 is getting ready for an unprecedented competition that will test the skill and ability of the drivers and the machines.
In this sense, one of the highlights of this 5-stage race will be the versatility of terrains that competitors will have to face thanks to the great variety of grounds offered by the north of the country.
Undoubtedly, the Desafío Ruta 40 will be, each day, a challenge in itself.
