Desafío Ruta 40 returns to W2RC in 2026!

The World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC) has revealed its 2026 calendar with the stunning return of Desafío Ruta 40. The Argentinean round will be held from May 24-29, representing its return to the international stage after a year’s absence.

The 13th edition of Desafío Ruta 40 will be the third round of a season that will feature a total of five competitions on four continents. This mythical rally-raid race will once again bring all the off-road adrenaline to South America and will feature the best competitors of the FIA and FIM discipline competing once again in the country.

Commenting about this big announcement, Pablo Eli (Sporting Director of +Eventos and Desafío Ruta 40) said: ‘We are very excited to be back with the Desafío Ruta 40. Of course, we are already working and planning the route, which we will communicate in due course, but I’m sure it will please because it will have a lot of the essence of what this race is all about with off-road, sand and dunes… It will be a DR40 with the great spirit of the Dakar in South America’.

Featuring a unique combination of stunning scenery, a great range of terrains, an exceptional atmosphere and a competition with the highest standards, the Desafío Ruta 40 promises to be one of the outstanding events of the coming year, once again establishing Argentina as one of the world’s great rally-raid venues.
