The bivouacs of Desafío Ruta 40

Desafío Ruta 40 will take place from May 24 to 29, with a stunning route connecting San Juan – San Rafael (Mendoza) – San Juan. The competition will count towards Round 3 of World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC) and will once again bring together the main competitors in the discipline on Argentine soil.

The 13th edition of Desafío Ruta 40 will have simplified logistics and a total route of over 2,700 kilometres, of which 1,699 kilometres will be selective sectors, and will feature two bivouacs.

The bivouacs (camps) represent the true travelling homes of the competition and the headquarters for the teams, race organisers and accredited media, concentrating the sporting and logistical activity of the event.

In the city of San Juan, capital of the province of the same name, the bivouac will be located at Autódromo San Juan Villicum. In addition, San Juan will host both the start and finish of the race, consolidating its position as one of the most traditional and emblematic venues in the history of Desafío Ruta 40.

Another major attraction of this Desafío Ruta 40 will be the eagerly awaited return to the province of Mendoza, more precisely to San Rafael, ten years after the competition last visited this city. On this occasion, the bivouac will be located at Congress and Exhibition Centre.

Featuring iconic landscapes, a challenging route and bivouacs that will also be open to public, the 2026 Desafío Ruta 40 promises to be a great sporting event, reaffirming its identity as one of the most attractive rally raid competitions in South America and an unmissable event in W2RC.
